In late January, 2015, I was told about an art contest in which local artists were asked to create works of art featuring one or more of the 9 performers booked to perform at the show. The deadline was May 1st, 2015.
Instead of completing one piece featuring a performer, the project quickly snowballed into me drawing all 9 performers as cartoon characters from fairy-tales/Disney films. This project of 9 prints took me almost 200 hours to complete, as each piece is sized to be printed at 24" x 36". To make matters more difficult, I wanted to feature several biomes and link each piece to its neighbor through the environment, sky, clouds, trees, etcetera. This resulted in an Illustrator file reaching 200 MB.
While I am offering prints on DA, I am also selling prints in person if you know me in person or live near Kansas City, MO. Half of the proceeds from either will go directly to the performer, so you'll be supporting an artist and a local performer!
